No excuses! Get your taxes done ahead of the deadline this year by taking advantage of these great resources:

Do your taxes online for free.

If you have ever used TurboTax or a similar paid online tax prep service software before, you should have no problem navigating to and clicking the “File your taxes” tab to begin. Married joint filers must have an adjusted gross income (AGI) of $95,000 or less to use the service. Single filers must make less than $65,000. You may request a direct deposit for a potential refund to their bank account, just like with a paid service.

Ohio Benefits Bank has free tax preparation assistance. The income limits for free tax filing through OBB for this year are $95,000 for Married Filing Jointly, and $65,000 for single and all other filing statuses. OBB tax sites are open to the public in Columbus. Call hotline: 1-800-648-1176 in order to get a local number to call to make a tax appointment based on your zip code.

Ohio Dominican University (ODU) VITA Accounting students and faculty will offer free income #taxPreparation services to qualified individuals through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. VITA offers free tax help to people with low-to-moderate income (generally $51,000 and below).  More information at

The OSU VITA Clinic is an opportunity for those who qualify to receive free access to computers, legal documents, and trained assistants to aid in the process of electronic filings.  Qualifying clients include individuals whose annual income does not exceed $52,000 and who are filing as independent.
